White Oxford and Khaki Replacement
A few days ago, I posted a GQ article about why a white oxford and khakis aren’t appropriate everywhere during the summer. The question then is what are some other good choices. Below you will find some second options that might just become your first option in the summer time.
If the event you are going to is casual but classy, a pair of dark rinse jeans and a well fitting white shirt are great options. Think lighter, 12 oz denim rather than a heavier 14+ oz selvedge denim. For the money, the Levi’s 514 slim straight fit is probably the best option for most guys. If I have to sell you on a pair of Levi’s, something is wrong.

As for the white shirt, you can go oxford, broadcloth, or even linen just make sure it fits well. This club collar oxford from Rugby would look dope with or without a tie (a darted madras bowtie with this shirt and jeans would kill!).

Another great option is a chino in a color other than khaki. I have been on a white chino kick for some time now, but there are tons of other dope colors out there. If you go bold with the pants color, keep up top simple. For example, say you went with some bring red chinos like these from Brooks Brothers:

Something a little more stayed up top is your best bet. When I wear a loud piece, whether it be a bright pair of pants or some colored shoes, I try to ignore the desire to get all matchy and think about it like something basic. With these pants, anything from a light blue oxford and navy blazer to a simple white polo would get the job done. Just make sure to wear loud pieces with confidence: walk in like you are wearing something totally ordinary. If you are looking for kick options, we already covered that.
